This training supports mental health professionals transitioning into clinical supervisory roles by exploring core supervision principles, essential competencies, ethical considerations, and practical strategies for effective supervision. Participants will examine approaches to individual and group supervision while developing tools to strengthen supervisory skills, support professional growth, navigate challenges, and uphold ethical and social work values in practice.

This advanced training explores the complexities of clinical supervision when ethics, power dynamics, identity, culture, and nervous system responses intersect in real time. Participants will strengthen clinical judgment, deepen conceptualization skills, and practice relational repair while remaining grounded in accountability and justice-oriented supervision. Topics include rupture and repair after harm, microaggressions in supervision and clinical work, systemic bias in documentation and decision-making, and countertransference, including cultural countertransference. Participants will leave with practical language, reflective tools, and decision-making strategies they can immediately apply in supervision practice.

This training introduces core counseling communication and helping skills for non-clinicians, with a focus on active listening, effective questioning, empathic responding, trauma-informed practice, and culturally responsive approaches. Participants will explore the foundations of helping relationships, boundaries, ethical practice, case management fundamentals, referral processes, system navigation, collaborative goal-setting, and self-care strategies for preventing burnout and vicarious trauma. Through applied scenarios and skills practice, participants will strengthen their ability to support others while recognizing the limits of their role and when to connect individuals with professional resources.

This workshop introduces the CARES framework as a relational, justice-oriented approach to supervision designed for the realities of contemporary practice. Grounded in anti-oppressive principles, participants will explore how the CARES domains—Critical Analysis, Advocacy, Role Clarity, Exposure, and Safety Navigation—can support ethical, reflective, and context-aware supervision amid workforce strain, moral distress, and increasing demands for equity and accountability. Through case-based learning and practical application, supervisors, educators, field instructors, and social work leaders will develop strategies to foster relational safety, navigate power dynamics, and support practitioner growth across diverse practice settings.
